Mark Nagy is the kind of person who never quits. But after speaking to a number of organisations, including his bank of many years, regarding consolidating his mortgages to build his dream home, he admits he was “a heartbeat away from quitting”.

“We had the worst house on the best street, but it was in the most magnificent spot. My partner Jody and I had a dream to build a house of a certain configuration in that location, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches,” says Mark.

“But we were starting to come to the conclusion that it was a dream too far away.”

Mark is self-employed and 59 years old. He has owned and operated a software development technical company for the past five years, the second successful business he’s launched in his career to date. Mark and his partner Jody also own an investment property that they wanted to consolidate. It was to be a clean slate for their ideal home, built in their dream location, as they approached retirement.

But due to the big banks’ tightening their lending criteria in response to the Royal Commission, Mark’s employment status and age presented one too many hurdles for the organisations he met with prior to Distinctive Finance.

“That’s when we met with Christian Goodall from Distinctive Finance and, honestly, it’s changed our lives,” says Mark.

“Nothing was too hard. Nothing was too difficult. He refused to see my age or the fact that I’m self-employed as an obstacle, he just walked straight through it and now we’re staring down the barrel of getting the house we want in the location we want. We couldn’t be happier.

“He was always very honest with us with any challenges or difficulties we were facing, and as a result it’s been the most impressive experience from the moment I met him.

“But you know the biggest thing that stood out to me? The guy’s always got a smile on his face. I’ve dealt with a lot of people in my line of work and I travel a lot, but in all my business dealings, both personally and professionally, he is the most enjoyable person we could have met and I just can’t say enough about the quality of work, service and support he has given us. He’s a great bloke and I will refer him to every single person I can.”
