The Sydney property market continues to remain strong. And, because of that, a quick and fast response is needed from everyone involved – from real estate agents to finance brokers.

Tom and his wife Juliette appreciated that more than most recently as they were able to put in an offer on their new home within 72 hours of it coming onto the market.

The fact they were able to do so was down to the work they’d put in with the team from Distinctive Finance beforehand, and some speedy work once they’d found their ideal home.

“We’d been working with Mitchell Lobb – and the wider team on occasions – over the course of a few months, and we were a bit uncertain about what we were going to do,” explains Tom.

“We threw them a few curveballs along the way – for example, Juliette was studying to become a teacher, so we’d gone through one provider because of that, but then she changed jobs and we had to start all over again, and of course she had a probationary period in her new job which needed negotiating with lenders, but nothing was a problem.

“They worked quick-smart to get pre-approval with another lender, and Mitchell was very thorough in terms of explaining to us why he was suggesting the course of action we took.”

The couple were living in Bondi in Sydney’s eastern suburbs and were moving a few suburbs down the coast.

“We explored a few different scenarios – including keeping hold of our place in Bondi – with Mitchell, but in the end decided it was best to sell and then buy our new home.

“When we found the right place we had to move really quickly, and even on a Saturday afternoon Mitchell got on it, advised us and made sure we could make an offer.”

The couple had owned their Bondi home for more than a decade, and had used another broker to do that deal. While the experience was good overall (“There was a bit of sloppiness around an issue with a guarantor, which took a bit of time, but overall it was fine,” explains Tom) they didn’t feel compelled to go back.

Mitchell is a friend of the couple, but this caused Tom to pause for thought – do you really want to work with your friends?

“It’s hard when there’s a personal relationship,” he says. “I’m always willing to give people a chance but you’ve got to weigh it up and you don’t just do it for the sake of it.

“We did think long and hard about it, and we’re glad we did – without question we’ll use Mitchell again, and I would certainly recommend him to others.”
