Distinctive Finance has expanded its operation into Victoria with the appointment of private banking stalwarts Paul Woodney and Mark Cranwell.

The former NAB and ANZ duo have joined Distinctive Finance to build upon its current Melbourne-based clientele and will be partnering with new and existing clients to fulfil their funding requirements.

“Being very selective of the brokers I worked with in my previous role at NAB, I developed an excellent working relationship with Christian and the team [Goodall, Director of Distinctive Finance] explains Paul.

“Fast forward a few years and the opportunity arose to help Distinctive Finance set up a full-time Melbourne base and both Mark and myself leapt at the chance.”

The careers of Paul and Mark have been intrinsically linked for the best part of three decades, with the 80s school friends working together internationally, including the US, before returning home to Australia over a decade ago.

“Our approach is very much that of a long-term, trusted partner,” says Mark, who, like Paul, is excited to build the Victorian business and offer a level of service not often seen outside of private banking.

“Working with a range of clients from first home buyers to C suite executives we can guide clients through different life stages, often supporting their children too. We partner with clients to help them make informed financial decisions, whatever their financial situation.”

A key part of Paul and Mark’s offering in Victoria is their capacity and ability to do a lot of the groundwork on their time-poor clients’ behalf – something that is highly valued.

“Many of our clients simply don’t have the time to do the research, and liaise directly with financiers,” says Paul.

“We essentially do all of the legwork, and help make the complex simple.”

Speaking personally

On a personal level, Paul is married to Rachel and they have two children Jade and Christopher.

Mark and his Hungarian wife Andi also have two children, Harrison and Emily.

In their spare time, both enjoy US sports – Major League Baseball and NFL in particular. In the AFL, Paul is a Hawks fan while Mark – originally from Adelaide, maintains a love for Port Adelaide

Distinctive Finance Director Christian Goodall, says the expansion into Melbourne, and the addition of Mark and Paul to the team, is a significant milestone for Distinctive Finance.

“Since launching the business in 2018, an expansion into other Australian capital cities has been part of our roadmap. “The growth and evolution of Distinctive Finance are strategic, and when the opportunity arose for Paul and Mark to join the business it was a case of the right people at the right time, and we’re looking forward to working with them to build the Distinctive Finance brand in Melbourne.”
